Louisville 20-6, 9-4 In Conference and Duke 20-6, 9-4 In Conference
Louisville, KY- Louisville coming off their dunk filled win against Syracuse is looking for another big win today against Duke. Louisville sitting tied for fourth in the ACC looks to stay in the hunt for the ACC regular season title and salvage the rest of their season. This will be a revenge game for Louisville considering that they lost to Duke just twelve days ago. This will be a tough game, but Louisville should have the advantage today.
Duke is without guard Matt Jones. This will reduce Dukes already depleted lineup to just 6 regular players, and the fact that they are going against a Louisville team that will go 10 deep even without 2 potential starting big men will be an issue for the Blue Devils.
If last game is any indication Louisville will just be looking to have fun for the rest of the season, and that could mean, a lot more dunks. Louisville Freshman Donavan Mitchell has been on a tear averaging 8.6 points for the season, but over the last 5 games that number has jumped considerably. Also as always Duke will have to watch out for the graduate transfer duo of Damion Lee and Trey Lewis who could each drop twenty points every night. And nobody can forget about Chinanu Onuaku who is averaging a double-double in ACC play.
This game will get off to a fast start and since Louisville is the clear deeper team today, I feel like Louisville will pressure Duke with Rick Pitino’s patented press, and in the second half Louisville will wear them out. Louisville will win this game and get revenge on Duke for beating them 12 days ago. My prediction for this is:
Louisville 76, Duke 62
Louisville- Chinanu Onuaku, Damion Lee, Donavan Mitchell, and Trey Lewis
Duke-Grayson Allen and Brandon Ingram
