Why are they here?
Matt Farrell came to Notre Dame as a raw point guard out of Point Pleasant Beach High School in New Jersey and has turned into one of the better floor generals in all of college basketball.
Farrell’s court vision stands out when you look at his game, but his leadership skills have been invaluable to Notre Dame since he has cracked the starting lineup.
Along with his natural point guard skills, Farrell also has a nice stroke, shooting 44% from the field and 42% from deep a year ago.
Role on this year’s team
While Farrell might not be the best player on the Notre Dame roster, he returns as their unquestioned leader.
Bonzie Colson, Rex Pflueger and TJ Gibbs all return for the Fighting Irish this season and with Farrell running the show, it could be a special year in South Bend.
College Season/ NBA Prospects
It wasn’t much of a surprise to see Farrell return for his senior year, as he did not even bother testing the NBA Draft waters.
In terms of playing at the next level, Farrell is somewhat limited from an athletic standpoint and is currently not projected to be drafted, according to DraftExpress.
With a strong senior season, Farrell could potentially sneak into the later parts of the second round.
