Syracuse Lands 4-Star Slovakian Forward Marek Dolezaj

Marek Dolezaj, of the Slovak Republic, signed a LOI to play basketball at Syracuse University on Tuesday.

If you’re thinking “Who is this guy? I’ve never heard of him.”, you’re definitely not the only one. Coming from the Slovak Republic, Dolezaj was relatively unknown until the last few months. He visited Syracuse on May 7th and also received interest from Vanderbilt, Florida, Wichita State, Ole Miss, Pittsburgh and Georgia Tech.

The 6’9” forward averaged 11.7 points and 4.2 rebounds per game last season in the Slovakian Basketball League. While he is listed as a forward, Dolezaj is a very versatile player that can play multiple positions. He is likely to play mostly at the 3 or 4 and may even see some time at the 2 if necessary.

Dolezaj joins Oshae Brissett, Howard Washington, and Bourama Sidibe in the Orange’s 2017 class.
