Butler’s 2016 Recruiting Class: The Best Class Yet

As the Butler basketball program grows so does its ability to attract and sign better players. Butler’s recruiting classes keep getting better and better. Their 2016 recruiting class might be the best one in the school’s history. They have already signed four top notch players including two 4 star recruits, one of them being an ESPN Top 100 player for his class.

Joey Brunk who committed on June 14th was the first of the class to commit to the team. Brunk is a 4 star 6”10 center who is the 69th best recruit in the country and 10th best center according to ESPN’s scouting. Brunk is a hometown boy from Indianapolis. He went to Southport High School and was the 2nd best player in the state. Brunk got offers from most of the big schools around the area including Indiana, Purdue, and Michigan State but decided to go with Chris Holtmann’s Bull dogs.

Butler got its second 4 star recruit of the month when 14 days later on June 28th Howard Washington committed to the Bulldogs. Washington is from the Montverde Academy in Buffalo, New York and is the 25th best point guard in the country. He is a 6’2 versatile guard who Chris Holtmann believes fits very well into the program at Butler.

Butler was having a good recruiting season that turned great when they signed two recruits on the same day. On August 8th Kamar Baldwin and Henry Baddley both committed to Butler. Baldwin is a 3 star guard from Winder Guard who scouts see as someone who could grow into being a very productive player. Henry Baddley is a 6”6 small forward who went to the same high school as Lebron James in St. Vincent- St. Mary. Baddley is from Akron, Ohio and played on Lebron James’ AAU team. Baddley is a real talent that was a big score for Holtmann and his staff. The day ended with Lebron giving a shout out on twitter to Butler for getting a great kid. Maybe next year Lebron can take a trip up to Hinkle to watch this extraordinary recruiting class take the court.
