Butler 1-0 and Northwestern 2-0
Butler looks to continue their solid start to the regular season with a high scoring game at Hinkle Fieldhouse against an undefeated Northwestern team. Butler started the season with a 37 point win over University of Northern Colorado in which Kelan Martin scored 21 and point guard Tyler Lewis stole the show, shooting 100% from the field scoring 16 points and dishing out five assists.
Northwestern will be the first opponent that may come as a threat to the Bulldogs. The Wildcats are off to a good start, defeating Mississippi Valley State and Eastern Washington by a combined 45 points. Because this matchup is taking place so early in the season, and because of the number of new players to the Butler program, the team is still definitely working out the kinks and attempting to improve team chemistry. Already this season we have seen a handful of upsets, with Indiana’s win over Kansas, Creighton’s win over Wisconsin, and Baylor’s win over Oregon.
Butler- Kelan Martin, Tyler Wideman, Sean McDermott
Northwestern- Bryant McIntosh, Sanjay Lumpkin
With these games fresh in memory, and so early on in the reason for both programs, truly anything can happen. However with this being said, I predict that the Bulldogs will handle this Northwestern team and hand them their first loss of the season.
The game is a part of the Gavitt Tipoff games series, that has already brought us a thrilling win for the defending champion and #4 Villanova at #15 Purdue game as well as an upset in the #9 Wisconsin at #22 Creighton game.
The game will be at Hinkle Fieldhouse at 7:00 Eastern time. It will be televised on FS1
