Why They Are Here
Coming into his third season, Corey Sanders returns as a top player in the Big Ten and what I would consider a lock for an all-conference selection. He came in as one of the most talented and exciting freshmen in the country just three years ago and is now one of the most explosive players in the country. Despite coming off a sophomore slump filled with shooting woes, look for Corey Sanders to have a break out year and really become the player people originally thought he could be.
Role on This Year’s Team
Rutgers isn’t a big time contender in the Big Ten and I don’t see that changing anytime soon. The best chance for the Scarlet Knights to win games is to have the ball in Corey’s hands as much as possible. Sanders, for the third year in a row, will be the team’s primary ball handler, scorer, distributor, floor general, and leader. He is Mr. Do-It-All up in New Jersey.
College Season/NBA Prospects
Sanders declared for this past draft without hiring an agent and with no surprise to anyone he came back. At this point in his career, I don’t see any sort of gameplay boosting his draft stock. Unless he starts averaging 25 points a game, I just don’t see him getting drafted anything earlier than the second round. With that being said, wherever Sanders ends up playing pro ball he will be successful in doing so.
