CPP Top 100: #79 De’ron Davis

De’Ron Davis
C – 6’10”
2016-2017 Stats: 5.9ppg, 3.1rpg

Why They Are Here
De’ron Davis is here because of the major body transformation he has gone through this summer (Started at 271 lbs and is now down the 250 Lbs) which will allow him to build upon what he did as a Freshman. He already proved that he can bang down low, and with more agility and experience under his belt, I believe he will be and All Big Ten player this season.

Role on This Year’s Team
Davis will be used exclusively inside the arc this season, unlike Thomas Bryant’s role was in last year’s offense. When IU needs a bucket, they will dump it down to De’ron in the post and let him go to work. Archie Miller’s plan is to play Davis anywhere from 25-30 minutes a game. However, Davis’ minutes were often limited last year due to quick foul trouble. If he is able to limit his fouls, expect him to post solid numbers in his Sophomore campaign.

College Season/NBA Prospects
I still suspect De’ron Davis is another year from fully committing to the NBA Draft. With a 13ppg, 8 rpg type-of-season, he’d by a lottery pick projecting into the following season. If Davis proves that he can be effective defensively, while staying out of foul trouble, he should see his draft stock improve immensely. Be sure to check out tomorrow’s Top 100 player.
