2017 4-star point guard Wabissa Bede committed to Virginia Tech Wednesday afternoon over Butler, La Salle, Massachusetts, Minnesota, among others. Bede is ranked as the nations #72 prospect and the #16 point guard, according to 247Sports.
Bede is undersized, standing at 6-1, but has the heart and love for the game any coach dreams of. Bede is a leader on the court and is very competitive. His passion for winning is greater than most players ranked above him. His jump shot has a very high release, which is great because it helps him get over bigger defenders. He’s not a very explosive player, and has difficulty fighting through the lane, as expected.
Bede is the second commitment for Virginia Tech’s 2017 class, and joins 4-star shooting guard Nickiel Alexander-Walker. Virginia Tech currently has the #18 recruiting class nationally, and their senior recruiting class this year is already better than last years recruiting class, which included three 3-stars.
