2016-2017 Stats: 12.9 PPG, 6.8 RPG
Why They Are Here
Kyle Washington is a do-it-all forward that has a knack for finishing around the rim. Washington is not afraid to bang bodies in the post and in a one on one situation, can finish over both shoulders with an accurate baby hook. Since transferring from NC State after his sophomore year, he has also improved his mid-range jump shot and can fluster a defense in a pick and pop situation.
Role on This Year’s Team
Washington is going to be looked at as a leader on this year’s Bearcats squad as he is one of four seniors on the roster. The forward is also the energizer for the team and provides highlight plays and thunderous dunks at an alarming rate. Washington’s downfall is his tendency to get into foul trouble early in games and then be forced to sit for long periods of time. The combination of Jacob Evans and Kyle Washington will be looked to to provide a spark in the Bearcats’ offense this season.
College Season/NBA Prospects
Washington will have to make an impressive jump during his senior year to even be considered as a draft pick. It is likely that following the 2017-2018 season, Washington will play professionally overseas before maybe being scouted by an NBA team. Unfortunately, the surplus of talented forwards in this upcoming draft class does not help his stock very much.
