Leading up to the season we are doing a countdown of the Top 100 players in college basketball. These rankings are based on a poll made up of 14 CPP writers. These writers span from UCLA to Seton Hall so there is very little bias. Each day we will release the latest player on our ranking with a small write-up. Jaylen Adams #60
2016-2017 Stats (Junior): 20.6 Points, 6.5 Assists, and 3.7 Rebounds per game.
Why They Are Here
Jaylen Adams is in our rankings at #60, but could realistically be even higher. Adams is by far the favorite to win the player of the year in the A10. He averaged over 20 points a game against a tough A10 conference. He impressed in every aspect of his game, while earning his team an above .500 record and 5th in the A10. Adams is a stud, and him coming back means he wants to win big in the A10 not just come in 5th.
Role on the Team
Jaylen Adams is going to be a do it all leader. He lost his right hand man Matt Mobley so he is left on his own. This is just going to allow him to set his own ceiling and be whatever player he wants to be. I think if he is a score first player he can average 25-30 a game and take this team to the top of the A10. However, I think he can balance it out and be a team player and still take this team to the top of the conference scoring when he needs too.
College Season/NBA Prospects
Jaylen Adams is getting many looks from NBA teams, and could have hands down been drafted this year. I think if he averages 25+ points per game, he can easily find himself as a first round pick. This man has sheer talent and will show it throughout the season. The NBA can trust this guy, and he can trust himself to hear his name called on draft night.
