Sunday, December 3rd, 4:00 PM ET, ESPN2
The Louisville Cardinal’s return back home to the KFC Yum! Center after a disappointing first loss at the hands of the Purdue Boilermakers. In that contest the Cardinal’s shot an atrocious 31.7% from the field. The lone bright spot for the Card’s was VJ King who played one of his best games of the year scoring 17 points and grabbing 6 boards.
The Seton Hall Pirates are a great early test of the Cardinal’s. The Pirates are coming off of their biggest win of the year, defeating Texas Tech, 89-79. Head Coach Kevin Willard has put together a great offensive team averaging just over 80 points per game. That offense is sure to give the Cardinal’s fits on defense.
Junior forward Deng Adel has been by far the most productive player for the Cardinal’s averaging 16.2 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. Along with his solid production, Adel has become one of the main leaders on this team along with senior guard Quentin Snider. Deng Adel will need to have great game for the Cardinal’s to beat this Seton Hall squad.
While the Seton Hall Pirates do rely on team play to win them games, senior forward Desi Rodriguez has been playing lights out. With most of the focus on Angel Delgado, Rodriguez has quietly put up 18.7 points per game while shooting 50.5% from the field.
Players to Watch:
Louisville: #0 VJ King
As mentioned earlier, VJ King had great game against Purdue and he seems to finally becoming the player many people think he can be. He is a prolific athlete that can finish well at the rim but also shoot the long ball at a good percentage. He is a difficult matchup for any opponent.
Seton Hall: #13 Myles Powell
Powell can light up any scoreboard at any time. He is averaging 14.7 points per game, only behind Desi Rodriguez (18.7). He can also shoot the 3-point shot very well, shooting 42% on the year. Expect a big game from him.
