Southern Methodist Receives Fourth Commitment

2017 4-star point guard William Douglas committed to Southern Methodist on Friday over Ole Miss and others. Douglas is the fourth, and likely the last, senior commitment for Jay Duncan, SMU’s new head coach.

Douglas, who is primarily a wing player, had a fantastic summer, and his recruitment took off. Previously ranked as the #228 senior in the nation, according to 247Sports, Douglas’ monumental summer elevated him to #115.

Douglas joins 3-star power forward Everett Ray, 3-star point guard Elijah Landrum, and 3-star power forward Ethan Chargois as the four seniors committed to the Mustangs. This will likely be what their recruiting class looks like at the end of the season, as no other recruits seem to have SMU as a serious contender. SMU currently has the #23 2017 recruiting class in the nation, and the second best in the AAC.
