Why They Are Here
Allonzo Trier flies under the radar playing on the west coast and on a loaded roster but he is a Top 5 player in college basketball. Trier is a lethal scorer who can absolutely fill it up. He does a little bit of everything for Arizona while being the go-to scorer for the Wildcats. Not only does Trier have impressive numbers but he is relatively efficient shooting over 50% on shots inside the arc and almost 40% from deep. Although he may not have the NBA prospects of other players on this list, he is extremely talented.
Role on This Year’s Team
Last year was very unique for Trier as he sat out the fall semester due to a failed drug test and an influx of talented shooting guards with Rawle Alkins and Kobi Simmons. Kobi Simmons is now in the NBA leaving Alkins and Trier to be the off ball guards. Trier should still be the main scorer on a Top 10 team. Expect the ball to be in Trier’s hands at every crucial point in Arizona’s games. We could see some two man pick and rolls with Trier and top recruit DeAndre Ayton.
College Season/NBA Prospects
Trier has played with the idea of going to the NBA but ultimately decided to return for another year being developed by Sean Miller. Trier will never be the top 10 draft pick that many believed he was coming out of high school. Trier will likely depart Arizona after this season looking to be an early second round pick with the ability to score the basketball.
