Terrance Ferguson to Play Overseas; Won’t Enroll at Arizona

Arizona commit Terrance Ferguson, a 2016 5-star SG from Dallas, Texas, has decided he will play overseas next season rather than enrolling at Arizona. There were rumors saying that Ferguson would be ineligible for collegiate basketball due to the high school he attended, Advanced Preparatory International, which is likely the reason for his choice. Emmanuel Mudiay, who also took the overseas route, attended Advanced Preparatory as well.

It is not known yet, but many believe Ferguson will play basketball in Australia for a year, and then declare for the NBA Draft, where, as of right now, he is expected to be a lottery pick.

Ferguson’s choice to play overseas does not affect the Wildcats greatly. Their backcourt was jam packed regardless, and with Ferguson playing overseas, this opens up playing time for other guards, all of which deserve to play many minutes. Incoming freshman Kobi Simmons and Rawle Alkins will see more court time with Ferguson’s decision, as well will sophomore Allonzo Trier and sophomore Ray Smith.
