Former SMU Commit Decides on Maryland

2017 4-star center Bruno Fernando, a former Southern Methodist commit, has committed to Maryland over Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, LSU and others. Fernando is one of the best centers in the 2017 class, and is ranked #71 nationally by 247Sports.

Fernando is a fantastic post player who can get to the rim rather easily and can finish with either hand. When his back is to the basket, he is as good as it gets. He is fundamentally sound on all facets of his game. Defensively, Fernando forces turnovers frequently, whether it be a blocked shot or a steal. Fernando, who is 6-10 and weighs 225 pounds, can dunk with incredible force, and all spectators have an initial thought about the rim coming down after he flushes one home.

Fernando is the first 2017 commit for the Terrapins, and will be the first true center for Maryland since Diamond Stone, who was a second round pick in the 2016 NBA Draft.
