Why they are here:
One of the best ball handlers in the country, Brunson can beat you in a variety of ways. He has the ability to take over a game with his mid-range jumper and driving ability while also bringing an excellent drive-and-kick ability to the table. He is also one of the better defenders in the Big East, making him an all-around standout for the Wildcats.
Role on this year’s team:
Josh Hart was Villanova’s star the last couple of years but with Hart off to the NBA, it is now Brunson’s turn to step into the spotlight. This shouldn’t be a problem for Brunson, who has run the show for Villanova since his freshman year. Expect an uptick in his scoring average, as the ball will be in his hands more than ever.
College Season/NBA Prospect:
Brunson looks like a four-year player but if he does decide to go pro after his junior year, it’d be hard to blame him. He has all the makings of an NBA point guard and even though he might not be as athletic as some of the other point guards around the country, his basketball IQ more than makes up for that.
